Diarrhoea with blood?

For a week now my mum has had diarrhoea, up to 10 times a day it's had bright red blood in it. She's been to the doctors and they've taken a sample but I'm so worried.
Has anyone had snitching similar?

It may be Campylobacter infection, OP. It often causes bleeding. It could be a bleeding haemorrhoid, unrelated to the diarrhoea. It could be inflammatory bowel disease. There are many possible causes, the majority treatable or harmless.
I would calm yourself and wait for the stool culture result. Meanwhile, make sure mum is keeping up her fluids and potassium - which she will be losing in the diarrhoea. Oral replacement sachets such as Diorylate are helpful.
