Little red pimples on 6 month old's face, neck and ears - v. itchy

Hi, Last weekend my 6 month old daughter stated getting little red pimples all over her forehead, ears and cheeks. It has now moved onto her neck and hands. It's very itchy as she is constantly scratching. I took her to the doctor and I got phobbed off with - "oh it's baby eczema all you can do is keep the skin moisterised". I'm using epaderm as an emollient which seems to help a bit with the itching but can anyone else suggest any other products which could help? I need to wash her hair but I'm not sure what shampoo to use and the epaderm is really oily. Any advice or experiences would be gratfully recieved.

Many Thanks

Has she recently been introduced to any new foods? It can be caused by food allergies? Or it can be that she's a bit run down following a cold. Either way it will get better fairly soon. You can use baby shampoo but use as little as possible. Better still, providing she's not allergic to them, a bit of egg makes a great shampoo.

Incidentally if it is really bad and itchy and you just want to treat it so she can sleep, whisked egg white painted on the skin is wonderfully calming and takes the redness away - works on bums for nappy rash and faces too!

Egg Whites eh..? That's a new one, it's got to be worth a try!
