Cold/Sinus/Teeth Problem driving me up the bloody wall....................

OK - this may sound pathetic to most of you but it is driving me insane.

I am a healthy person only getting the odd cold normally around this time of year - nothing special either, just the ususal runny nose, sore throat, etc..

But this time is different. I cannot hear out of my left ear at all and it aches like crazy. But the most annoying thing is toothache. I am not convinced it is caused by decay as it came on when i was getting this mad head cold and is making all my teeth sore on the upper AND lower jaw only on one side. I have never suffered from this before and keep my teeth clean mostly.

Is this normal?

People keep telling me it is all to do with the sinus - but how can that cause your teeth in your upper AND lower jaw to ache?

It's worse at night when i lay down for some reason.

Ouch.

aww poor thing, i have chronic sinustis so i can sympathise, it causes your teeth and jaw to ache cos your sinus is just above it and they'll be inflamed and putting pressure on them! if its been going on for a week or so go to the dr and get antibiotics to shift it.

Have you steamed your face to see if that helps get them moving? try sleeping with an extra pillow so your at more of an angle too

xx

Ooh, you have my sympathies.
Methinks you should see your GP.
I have chronic sinusitis and rhinitis,
and your description of the pain fits.
If not that, then worth seeing dentist

EricScrooge · 08/12/2007 22:14

Ok - so it does make the lower teeth ache too then?

I hate dentists and would also hate to go when feeling like this. I need to wait and see if it is connected to this sinus thing.

I am sleeping with about 3 pillows now to ease the pressure.

I wake up with a sore neck - but it is worth it to get some sleep.

It has got a lot worse this weekend so i will be at the docs on Monday if it persists

HayleyWayley · 08/12/2007 22:14

i have the same thing too, cannot hear at my right ear, tooth ache n sinus pain, been taking sudifed but nt doing ANYTHING,,, AM ON DAY 4 NOW ,,,,

EricScrooge · 08/12/2007 22:17

I know what you all mean. I have never had toothache in all my 34 years - and it is mental.

I can understand these stories now about people removing their own teeth cos they can't get a dentist.

Yep..gp for sure

sudafed and other decongestants can make it worse in the longterm

They are a blessing at night time though

ibuprofen helps me a little, stops the inflamation

CremolaFirCone · 08/12/2007 22:20

i have the sore neck too eric, and Am A BIT DEAF TOO
do we think it is some kind of mutant cold then?
sudafed did nothing for me.nurofen also crap.
what are you taking erics.?

itcameuponamidnightclayre · 08/12/2007 22:21

the sudafed or otrivine nasel sparys help and the sudafed from behind the counter at the chemist are good, the stuff off the shelf is useless
