It's driving me nuts. It's hot, red and raised. Is this normal?

For some people yes. I once got bitten by a bull ant (nasty, big Aussie ant) and had an itchy lump for a month. I was stung by a wasp and it was visible for ages...weeks from memory. My dog kept sniffing the area too ...I think some of us are just prone. Tried putting vinegar on it?

I recently had a wasp sting. Took about 10dats or so before it stopped feeling intensely itchy. Mine was red and raised and obviously made much worse if I scratched it to relieve the itch.

Have you taken an oral antihistamine? If not this will help

LifeIsBusy · 09/10/2021 23:15

I'm in the same boat... The pharmacy advised me to take an antihistamine until she realised I was bfeeding.

It's been 3 ish weeks and it's feeling loads better but hasn't disappeared yet.

Turns out were allergic to them 🤣

I wish you a speedy recovery

Urgh OP! I got stung by a fecking wasp too! All the way back in August - AUGUST 24th to be precise! Yes. One week later the whole area was the size of a golf ball and red and raised. I thought it might be cellulitis but it didn’t seem to be spreading. After about two more days it started to go down. Really weird.
Even weirder, the bloody thing STILL itches me now and again! In fact the last time it itched was about a week or two ago! Thankfully it all seems to have resolved…

I had that a few weeks ago, sudocreme helped. X

Mine was still swollen and itchy for 9 months.

I've got this at the moment.

Woke up and my knee was in agony. Pulled back the covers and there was a fecking wasp in the bed.

Have had a severe localised reaction and actually vomited on the first day. Which I didn't realise was also a side effect? I'd put it down to eating something dodgy but no apparently wasp stings can cause sickness and diarrhoea.

The second day was the worst. It spread to the size of a saucer and rock hard, red painful and very swollen.

Im taking daily anti histamines and gradually it's starting to shrink. Still painful though.

I got stung by a wasp on my elbow back in the summer and had no reaction at all. Painful for a few hours and that was it.

So weird how this one is had such a reaction.

Antihistamine cream. Possibly also hydrocortisone cream. And oral antihistamine.
