Surgery steroids

Hello ladies I had an operation yesterday and got told they gave me a dose of dexamethasone steroid during surgery for anti sickness . Would one dose cause weight gain ? I asked the staff but they said no.

No it wouldn’t.

Steroids don't cause weight gain but they can increase appetite. One dose won't make any difference.
I take long term steroids and haven't gained weight but I also had 6mg daily dexamethosone for two weeks when I had covid and it certainly made me feel hungry.
