Dh has been diagnosed with heart failure, atrial fibrillation and is struggling for breath, especially at night.
He gets exhausted just walking a very short distance or climbing stairs.
His resting heart rate is around 120.
He's having an echo scan soon and once he has results the Drs can hopefully plan treatment.
He's only mid fifties.
Please tell me this isn't a death sentence Sad

Hi @NuckingFightmare
I have cardiomyopathy which is a form of heart failure. When I first found out I was devastated, googled and thought I didn't have long left. Do not google. There are advanced medications and treatments available now and I have been stable for 14 years. There is a Facebook group which i found really helpful, full of people of all ages and stages who have been through treatments/medications, I found this helpful to speak with people going through similar.

Thanks @newcastlewife4.
I'm in the NE too! Is there a hospital you recommend? We are at UHND atm but I'm hearing really bad reviews

I have severe heart failure following viral myocarditis, it’s reasonably well controlled with drugs but I have had to adjust my life style. I was given 1-3 years but hopefully will exceed that!
There’s lots of support out there once you know what you’re dealing with, it’s the waiting that is horrible.
I couldn’t walk up the stairs without sitting on them halfway up, let alone walk more than a few yards at first. Now I can manage 2 miles on the flat but hills completely floor me!
Good luck OP, I will be thinking of you both 💐

Thank you @YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp that's reassuring
