Anaemia symptoms: do I need to do more?

Hi,

I’m fairly certain I’ve got low iron levels, I’ve been to the doctors for a blood test but sat here now wondering if I need to do anything else.

Symptoms include being super dizzy, I can’t do anything as I feel like I’m on a boat. Really fuzzy headed, I can’t concentrate at all. I ran a half marathon about six weeks ago, today I can hardly walk up a hill without my heart shooting up into the 150’s. Pounding heart rate on and off, craving ice lollies. Feeling really lethargic and ill. Feeling like I need to occasionally catch my breath (but not sure if this is anxiety related).

Anyway, should I be doing something more than I already have done?

Thanks

Honestly, I feel like I’m constantly about to faint.

Also, eating and drinking as normal.

Erm it could be the recovery after the marathon. Eat more iron rich foods and take a multi vitamin supplement that has iron in. Those things are the most I would do without more specific medical advice.

And rest.

@grasstreeleaf I’m a regular runner with a good base level of fitness. I wouldn’t expect to still be recovering after six weeks.

Maybe not. But the only way to be sure is blood tests and other diagnostics. Focusing on your diet being iron rich and taking a moderate supplement would be prudent until you get results, though.
