Low iron/ rash?

Hi

I suffer from low iron, however when I get really low I come out in a rash on my stomach (think chicken pox, as this is what it has been diagnosed as before) however I've never heard of a rash when anaemic?

I do have other symptoms fatigue, low mood etc...

Anyone had any strange symptoms or a rash with low iron?

I'm trying to ask my doctor is there is anything else I can try other than tablets (and an iron rich diet) that would help. The tablets only help for so long and then it drops again?

Interesting as I have been diagnosed several times with folate deficiency anaemia and I get a very itchy rash on my upper back and nowhere else and no idea of the cause. GP says it's just eczema but no amount of moisturiser makes it go away and I don't have eczema anywhere else either. It doesn't really look like chicken pox though as it's not that 'spotty' iyswim.

I get otc steroid cream which does help clear it up.

It's interesting to hear you had a rash too, mine just pops up every now and again and it tends to be when I'm feeling all the classic symptoms of the deficiency.

A few people have said they believe it's chicken pox (pharmacist/ doctor etc) but I just don't think it is?

It might be unrelated but was interested to hear other people's experiences.

Could I ask what you take for your iron levels? Do you find anything helps in particular?

my ferritin at my last check was 41 although doctors day this is normal it is still borderline and anything under 100 can cause symptoms I have very itchy skin and I've come up in a rash on my belly went to pharmacist today and they said eczema I've never had any skin conditions until low iron.. I also have brittle hair hair loss fatigue restless legs pale dark rings around my eyes chest pain that comes and goes etc
