Headaches.

I've been suffering with bad headaches for a while now. Sometimes they don't happen for a few weeks then 2/3 May happen a week or one might not fully clear for days.

I always thought they were tension headaches. I feel the tension in my face. I also have bad jaw. It's particularly bad around my temples. They are extremely painful. Like my head is being crushed. They knock me for six. Painkillers don't get rid. Make me feel queasy too.

I honestly think they are tension headaches but dp is convinced it could be migraines (he suffers with them himself) but I'm not so sure. I thought migraines were a one sided thing whereas this is both sides.

They are insanely painful. Like they hurt when I bend over and my sinuses hurt with them and everything.

Also they make me smell everything a mile off. Had to pop out today with a bad head. Needed something from the shop. I could smell everything a mile off - perfume, body odor, the shops bakery (not a bad thing for that one), but I smelt someone's breath even with a mask on as they walked by - I was masked too.

What does this sound like?

Best way to describe it is like me head is being crushed in a vice on both sides.

These sound migrainey to me, too, OP.

The smell thing in particular. Also, sinus area pain is common with migraines, I believe.

Hope you feel better soon.

I've had migraines which are painful on both sides of my head. When I get auras though they are just on one side.

Karleeb30 · 06/10/2021 18:02

Thank you both. They are very painfully. Usually wake up with it and it doesn't clear all day. I've been fortunate enough today I was able to sleep it off a bit this afternoon and feel a little better!

I've also just discovered those Kool and soothe things. I always thought they were a gimmick but I'm quite surprised!

Could be "cluster" headaches which belong in the migraine family. Worth a chat with a GP to get appropriate treatment!

Migraine by the sound of it, especially with the hyper sensitivity to smell - that a common aura.

You need to see your GP.

Maybe treat for sinus issues in the interim and see if it helps you at all.

Cluster headache is possible but unlikely - the pain is usually extreme and it is known as The Suicide Headache for a reason. I have had two spates of these - each attack lasted maybe 30mins, came on at 1am in my sleep and it happened nightly for about 3 weeks then disappeared. I had years between spates. It was horrific.

Thank you. They are aware but my go surgery is poop atm. They've put it down to my jaw tmjd issues which is likely the case but it's so painful! I can go weeks without one and then have 3 in a week yet my jaw issues are every day so surely I would have headaches all the time if it was that?
