Can a high tsh but a normal t3 and t4 cause symptoms? I keep getting palpitations and lightheaded ness and the only thing that came of my blood tests was a high tsh thyroid level - they told me it just needs monitoring

It depends what you mean by 'normal' FT4 and FT3. You'll get a better response if you post your results with the reference ranges.

Thyroid problems are notoriously under-diagnosed. Ask for your results with reference ranges as PP has said. You may need to insist that you want ro actual numbers, units and ranges as GPs often just tell you nornal/high etc.

Light-headedness and palpitations are both linked with low BP, itself a symptoms of hypothyroidism, as well as anaemia, which can also be caused by being hypothyroid. But they could be caused by other things so important to know.

Ideally, your FT4 will be in the middle of the range and your FT3 will be in the top quarter of the range to feel well. But everything in the range is called normal, and we're all individuals with different ideal balances. Good luck!

I'm not sure of the ranges he just told me that t3 and t4 are within the normal ranges but my tsh is high so needs monitoring & I've been tested for literally everything, I've had ecg (slightly tachycardia), bloods, I even had an mri - this is the only thing that has came back for me
