DD has cut her toenail too short and now this has happened. She's in pain and away in uni.

She needs to get antibiotics it looks like it is infected.

She needs to see the local NHS Podiatry service.

Made me cringe that has looks so painful! Deffo needs looking at

University medical practice first thing tomorrow. Warm salt foot bath for now. And a pharmacy.

Yes it's nail polish

I'd soak it in salt water, take something for any pain and try to see a Dr to get it assessed.

I would have a warm soak in salted water and then dress with a dry dressing plus bandage to cover. Then let it air tomorrow afternoon if at home. If it got worse in the interim I’d call the GP. If not I’d reassess in 24 hours.

How long ago did she cut the nail?
If she's just done it she might get away with keeping it clean and dressing it, but if it's a few days old and has got worse, she should see a GP.
