Alternative to Syndol (migraine)

I suffer with hormonal migraine. I used to take Syndol on day one to ease the pain and it knocked me out. But you can't but the one with muscle relaxant now and it's the only thing that worked if the pain had taken hold. Can you get similar on prescription or does anyone know where to buy it still?

You can still buy them in boots and Lloyds, they stopped doing them for years but they came back last year.
Now they do two types, one is in a lighter blue box which is just the paracetamol and codeine and one is in a darker blue box which has the doxylamine aswell so you just need to make sure to ask for the right one.

Both varieties of syndol are very hard to find these days due to manufacturing issues...a bit like we had some years ago. The light blue packs are useless as they dont have the key ingredient! My mum ordered the key ingredient muscle relaxant separately and adds that when she takes codeine...does the job. Nurofen migraine max strength are also OK. Nothing beats syndol though....I hope it comes back!

Hope you feel better soon OP.

chlobo89 syndol have been discontinued again by the manufacturer.
There isn’t really an alternative just the usual co-codamol products unfortunately. Migraleve would he the closest equivalent but it’s definitely not the same.

I have been buying Syndol (with doxylamine in) from South Africa. Not had an issue and it's the only thing that works, it's worth the cost.
I tend to buy 200 at a time for about £114 (free courier delivery) from pynfree.co.uk

I found some online the other day.. will have a look for you
The ingredient is sold under Kirkland sleep aid (I purchased from eBay for insomnia!) so you could take that with cocodamol

Here. Legit site, I use them to bulk buy antihistamines

Oh sorry i didnt know they had been discontinued again, i only stopped working for boots a couple of months ago and we had them in then.
Hope you manage to find some i’m a fellow migraine sufferer, i find dihydrocodeine helps me if you can get some on prescription otherwise you can buy it in a low strength over the counter in paramol.

Have you tried a triptan? Sumatriptan has revolutionised my life. See if your doctor will prescribe it

MyrealnameisBernard · 01/10/2021 20:34

Wow thanks all. I am finding my Rizatriptan makes me feel worse but shortens the attack so I've put off taking it. My whole face on the right hurts, my scalp hurts now and one side of my throat but the worst of the head pain has passed leaving the post migraine hungover feeling. I'll try some links though as paramol wasn't working as well for me this time either.

I also find triptans dont work for me, they just make the hangover worse, i take topiramate as a preventative and it has taken me from two migraines a week to one or less a month so something to consider for any sufferers out there.
Hope you feel better soon OP

MyrealnameisBernard · 01/10/2021 20:53

I've ordered some thanks so much from the chemist 4 u link. This kind of took me unawares as I wasn't due period or on period and that's when it usually occurs. Peri menopause sucks as it's messing with the cycle too
