Leaky boobs and not pregnant…

Hello,

I noticed a few weeks back that my boobs are leaking white/clear liquid when squeezed - is this normal?

I came off the pill 2 months ago due to awful migraines and I was hoping it was related to this and would just go away! I always worry about wasting NHS time so have put off seeing my gp.

I think this should definitely be checked out by a doctor. Don’t worry about wasting their time, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Thanks @Ogwen. Feel a bit more reassured and will make an appointment ASAP! I’m still hopeful it will just be related to coming off the pill, but yes you’re right l better safe than sorry

Are you on any other medication?

JenJen1408 · 30/09/2021 18:58

@Seesawmummadaw no nothing else at the moment - I just wonder whether my horrible migraines and everything else may all be a hormonal thing, definitely going to try and call the gp tomorrow

I had this in my late 20svearly 30s. They investigated and I had raised prolactin levels which lead to an MRI to look for a prolactinoma. They were very thorough and it was a bit scary but everything came back clear. Go get checked so you don't have to worry.

JenJen1408 · 30/09/2021 20:14

@Mysa74 thank you, I’m going to call first thing as am starting to feel so fed up. I had a CT scan a few weeks back but still haven’t had results.

Yes, echo PP with raised prolactin levels. I had the same thing, levels fluctuated during the month but settled down.

SuddenArborealStop · 30/09/2021 20:19

I had this alongside an inverted nipped. They said it was non puerperal mastitis. Basically mastitis without the breastfeeding. I was absolutely not in the risk category for it but there you go. Also get migraines but they didn't mention a connection.

JenJen1408 · 30/09/2021 20:20

@Snakeplisskensmum thanks for the reassurance! My gp asked to give a call back after my next period but that was two months ago and i figured I’d try and wait it out but starting to feel really fed up of feeling rubbish.

@SuddenArborealStop thanks for your reply. It’s so good to know I’m not totally overreacting. My partner has been on at me to get it checked for weeks but I just figured it would go away but it hasn’t…

I had this and it was high prolactin levels - I had a prolactinoma. It’s just a blood test to check.

JenJen1408 · 30/09/2021 21:12

@icedancerlenny thanks for sharing your experience- tbh I’ve had the leaky boobs for a quite a while but just convinced myself it was normal which obvs it’s probably not

I still get them every now and then. I've had it for many years. I'm now late 40s so they did a mammogram too. I just have milk ducts that are still producing a bit but they didn't seem overly concerned! You should get it checked out though.
