UPDATED POST
Hi, I have been left with a sentile pile/ skin tag on my anus after a fissure I had years ago. I want it go so badly it’s causing me a lot of distress. I can feel it a lot and I have problems with hygiene. It has also stopped me getting intimate with anyone. I can’t take it anymore it’s ruining me. I have visited private clinics who try to charge me £1000 I can’t afford this. Is there no way at all my my gp can remove this. I know they usually don’t because it’s cosmetic. But I can’t cope anymore I came home and sobbed because I feel like there’s no hope. Has anyone else suffered with this. Please help

UPDATE went to my GP who diagnosed it as a pile, which is exactly what I knew was gonna happen and didn’t want. I have never suffered from piles before, this is just ONE bit of skin that hangs down after I had an anal fissure years ago. I have had it for years. Left feeling so down and lost. I don’t know what to do now, do I try to find another GP? It’s so difficult with covid going on

Is it causing you any pain? Real pain, more than occasional discomfort.

Belleangel22 · 28/09/2021 18:45

No, no real pain, which again is why I am pretty positive it’s not a pile. I’ve never suffered from piles before, only an anal fissure a few years ago which is what I believe then resulted in a tag right beside it. It’s also just a skin coloured bit of flesh skin that hangs down , not purple or anything

I have this too. I have extra cleaning procedure which makes it tolerable mostly. Itches when in bleeds. Dh knows I don't like to talk about it and keeps clear! I asked about removal, but they wanted to do colonosopy first. I got pregnant so had to cancel.

And I've also had fissures and small abcesses. Along with abdominal pains, which is why they wouldn't remove without investigation. In my cases there is a possibility of inflammatory bowel disease so the surgery can unfortunately make it worse. So, as much as I hate it, I'm trying to live with it for now.

It sounds like you've been left with a skin tag

You'll really struggle to get this removed on the NHS so I would look into private removal. Why not get a couple of quotes for that? I know it isn't cheap but you will have a real battle with the NHS over it

I think I probably will have to face facts and go private with it, just now want to definitely make sure that it is a tag now as today’s appointment threw a bit of a spanner in the works.

Hi, just wondered if you had this treated successfully? I’m in the same boat and want rid too

SeekingHelp8686 · 31/08/2023 22:56

@Belleangel22 Did you end up having it removed?
