How to get taken seriously by GP?

I read somewhere once that if a patient returns to a GP 3 times with the same thing they get taken seriously. And that is when the tests etc... commence.

A friend is really struggling to get GP to take her seriously about something and I was wondering if there is anything she can do. I have suggested returning after a couple of weeks and explain things are no better but wondered if there was anything else someone can do to ensure they are listened to.

It's a muscularskeletal problem if that is relevant.

I had a muscularskeletal issue and I had to stress it was impacting me on a daily basis to get a referral. Having some examples of this ready would likely help.

I agree, keep going back, ask to be referred.
