Hi, I’ll start this off by saying I have health anxiety and fully acknowledge this.
I am on the depo and have been since Feb this year. I’ve had one period during this time in May but since then nothing.
Last month I started getting abdominal pain lower left very sharp. I’ve been and got an internal and normal ultrasound which has come back clear.
I waited a bit as the doctors thought I may have an Sti so awaited results which all came back clear.
Whilst waiting I had sex and put a pad on (by chance) and when I seen the pad at lunch time it was covered in brown blood. For the next few days I had light brown spotting. I had sex again a few days later and had a bit of pink when I wiped. After this I panicked phoned the doctors and have been sent for a urgent referral to gynaecologist at hospital.

I’m really stressed and anxious as since the referral I have developed leg pains constantly all day and back pain.

I’m really really worried and am finding it difficult to sleep

Try not to worry. Have you been having regular smears? Or be young enough to have had the HPV vaccine? If so the chances of something sinister are low.

You could have something called an ectropion on your cervix (I have a symptomless one)

It's basically some cells from the inside of your cervix on the outside. Hormones impact them and can make them bleed. Sex can also irritate it and make it bleed as well.

You'll likely have a colposcopy to check and that will ne quite soon

@Twizbe thank you for getting back to me!

I am not old enough to have smear as I am 23, although 2 years ago I developed bad leg pain and weird discharge so I did ask for a smear then but was denied. That was also the last time I was on the depo before I abruptly stopped so I’m thinking it could be related to that? (Hoping)

I had the hpv vaccine in school yes, I have just constantly had gynaecological issues that have always panicked me. This includes constant utis, bad heavy periods since I was young and 5 miscarriages x

I’ve also lost a lot of weight but that could be down to stress due to HA

If you've had the HPV vaccine then the chances of you having cervical cancer is very low. It most likely something else which can be easily sorted. It could well just be a reaction to the hormones as well.

@Twizbe yeah I was thinking about the cervical erosion thing you mentioned but it just wouldn’t really explain the pain unless that’s unrelated.

I’m hoping it is just a reaction to the depo, I have every intention of coming off it now as I don’t like the uncertainty of my cycles. My appointment with gynaecologist is next Monday I’m so nervous. My pain has been so bad today I’ve had to call in sick for work
