Diarrhoea in a 3year old, what should I do?

Hiya,
My ds is 3.9years old, and has had diarrhoea since last night. He seems to be well in himself though, slight stomach ache every now and then.

Ds is drinking well, but won't eat anything. What is the advce now on food: is it simply offer food to see if he eats it, or not to -but offer lots of drinks instead.

My dd (2.2) is in bed, so waiting to see if she has it as well.

Also, ds is out of nappies, but actually wants to wear one today - he said just incase! I'm allowing him, but will this cause problems later.

Thanks

Oh Bless him asking for a nappy!
I think one day is not going to cause major trouble.

Not sure about food advice. I think you must cut out dairy 24 hours and then reintroduce only yogurt with friendly bacteria.
Keep sugar & fat intake low and offer only strachy foods such as white toast/rice/pasta/banana.

This sounds very dated I admit, don't they just say give whatever they ask for an can stomach now?

Of course plenty fluids.

I tend to just give what they fancy - it seems to work. I remember the dr saying that to stop/reduce eating with diarrhoea wasn't necessary. Good luck and remember not to go and see friends!

Thanks for the advice. Going to see if he wants some toast in a minute.

Really hoping that DD doesn't catch it, or me tbh!

Eggs are meant to be good. May be an old wife's tale but my mum always tells me to give DD eggs when she has diarrhoea.
