Any opticians or contact wearers around?

Just a quick question..... I've worn soft contacts on and off for about twenty years. In the last year have only worn them a couple of times but now I want to start wearing them again for most of the day. How quickly should I build up the time I wear them for? One extra hour a day? I can't for the life of me remember.

good lord, ive never been so scientificabout it.
id wear them for as long as feels comfortable and carry glasses about as a backup - then you can whip them out if they become a bit irritating i suppose.

omg i have had mine for about 20 years too.

after a long break from wearing them you can start with about 8 hours and then build up an hour or two a day, but my optician regularly tells me off for wearing them for more than 12hrs a day
have you got new ones? some of the new monthly/fortnightly replacement ones are fantastic, nothing like the older ones were - they have lots more moisture in them and don't get dry and scratchy

good luck

Gigglewitch, another optican here scolding you for overwear, you norty girl!
Neolara, I would build up about 3 hours at a time, the maximum number of hours would depend on the contact lens type and the health of your eyes so you would have to check that with your optician.
