Humeral fracture

So this morning I came off my bike and to cut a long story short have fractured my humerus, near my shoulder. ('I do hope MN don't give me a hard time for going to A&E, i know how sacred they are but I was screaming in pain.Confused)

Anyway I've got a collar and sling and orthos will get back to me tomorrow if i need surgery (hopefully not but apparently it's a nasty break.)

I'm in AGONY, even with dihydrocodeine paracetamol and brufen. It's my right hand and with the pain and sling I can't even go to the loo. My husband has to pull my knickers up after Blush. Im even struggling using my tablet though it's easier than the laptop.

I'm no spring chicken,I'm in my 50s, they said it's worse as you get older.

Please share stories!

Oh you poor thing, that's horrid. My Dad did this a while ago. He ended up having surgery, and to be honest, he was a lot better afterwards, so don't despair if they tell you that's what is needed.
You might want to try to sleep in an armchair tonight - it tends to be more comfortable with the arm hanging down.
Of course it was the right thing to go to A&E!!!

Dh tripped 3 weeks ago and did just this, breaking it in 3 places. Yesterday he had surgery to replace half of his shoulder joint - the ball part of the ball and socket. He is in a huge amount of pain and spent last night in hospital on morphine. Hope your break isnt as bad as his but sympathies to you.

Oh I know I was half joking, the NHS is precious on MN and people can get a bit odd especially since covid. I don t take the pee but if I need help its there!

If I need surgery ill have it, but I had gallbladder surgery a month ago and cataract surgery earlier thus year so am fed up with it!
