nail on big toe almost ripped off

By accident last night, late, one foot caught the other and the big toenail got ripped off almost completely. It was late and I was getting ready for bed, so just bandaged it up and went to sleep. But today I was told by my nurseline to have it looked at by a Dr. I couldn't get in at all!! So soaked it in salt water and bandaged it again, using antibiotic ointment. Does this seem like it will be alright? Emergency room seems like overkill, and they are always so busy....

Well, if it's mostly off, I suppose the rest of it might decide to fall off. I know that sometimes runners lose their nails and seem to do ok 🤷‍♀️

I lost my big toe nail a few months back. Just kept it clean and bandaged it up. It's now mostly grown back.

They do regenerate. I was a classical ballet dancer and it was an occupational hazard
