Umbilical hernia

I think I have an umbilical hernia. I had it when I was pregnant and it's stayed, along with my pregnancy weight gain. I'm going to try and see my gp but I was wondering what others' experience of this had been like? It doesn't hurt and it disappears when I lie down. I'm trying not to panic (I have health anxiety) but I would like to better understand it. Is there anything I can do to reduce it? Would losing weight help?

Anybody?

I'm in the process of booking a GP appointment, but any advice would be great!

Hi @orangejuicer. Did you see your GP about the suspected hernia? I’m in the same boat and stressing about it

Hi...was just wondering if you solved this issue? I am wanting a second baby and have just been told I have a small umbicial hernia (had ultrasound) and am awaiting discussion with GP. I think ive had it ever since my first pregnancy...my belly button never went in after it popped out with the first one. Been putting it to the back of my mind but now we desperately want another one im scared I will be told it will be too risky...

It has been on and off uncomfortable for years (definitely know I have diastis rect from after pregnancy) BUT weirdly enough not enough to bother me and i am the worst health anxious person there is so it clearly wasnt bothering me.this week however ive had niggly/stinging/tightening sensations there.

The ultra sound lady could push it in and said thats good but the fear of strangulation is on my mind every second of every day...plus ive had a cough for about a month so no doubt that hasnt helped!

If i didnt want another baby...id have the op tomorrow so i didnt have to live in fear of the possible strangulation...but I do want another one. Desperately. My DD is 4 now.
