Lump below armpit next to boob

I’ve got a lump which started small but painful and has grown over the last few days. It’s below the armpit but not quite as far to the side of the boob.
Nothing on the skin to suggest a spot or infection but can see a slight swelling under the skin. It hurts to touch.

I’m thinking it’s prob a sweat gland or lymph gland swollen.

Just wondering if anyone also had one
And how long shall I leave it to settle before getting it looked at with gp?

Tomorrow. If it hurts that's a good sign but best to have it checked out and maybe an ultrasound.

Immaculatemisconception · 12/09/2021 21:54

Definitely get it checked ASAP. It’s probably nothing but far better to be sure.

dizzydizzydizzy · 13/09/2021 06:12

Book a GP appointment. As others have said, probably nothing sinister but get it checked. It is certainly unusual so should be looked at.

Bagelsandbrie · 13/09/2021 06:21

Get it checked ASAP. Could be all sorts of things but better to be safe than sorry.

olivermcfuddling · 13/09/2021 06:22

I had similar many years ago...turned into the most enormous boil. that aside please see a GP to be sure.

sarahc336 · 13/09/2021 06:25

If it's grown that fast and is sore could it be an in grown hair or some kind of blocked sweat gland? You will need to get it checked but it sounds more like something that might need draining or popping to me rather than something bad 😁 xx

Stircraazy · 13/09/2021 06:34

Is there a reason your lymph glands are up - infections, sore throat etc?

wafflesandbeans · 13/09/2021 06:40

Usually the go will tell you to wait until your next period to see if it's hormonal.

Hi OP. I had a lump in a similar position a few years ago. It turned out that I'd been bitten elsewhere on my abdomen and it had affected my nearest lymph node. I went to see a GP and they quickly referred me to the breast clinic at the local hospital, just as a precaution because of the location. I had a full breast screening within two days of seeing the GP. At the appointment they also took a biopsy of the lump, which was analysed and results returned within three days. So within five days of seeing the GP, I had a diagnosis. A swollen lymph node. Such a relief and I'm glad everything moved so quickly. Hope you experience the same Thanks

Have you recently has a Pfizer or Moderna Covid vaccination? It's a known side effect?

Grenola · 13/09/2021 09:23

So after reading your replies I have:

A mozzie bite on my other arm
*Do feel rundown and tired and not sleeping and very sweaty all the time
*Not hormonal I don’t think
*It’s not near hairs but could be sweat gland j guess!!

Will call after lunch for an afternoon call back. Missed the morning Ken dropping the kids off. X

Have you had the COVID vaccine recently? My glands have gone up on the side of the jab, common side effect apparently (Pfizer)

Grenola · 13/09/2021 09:31

P.s had vaccine months ago

Oddly, I could have written your exact post a week ago! Freaked me out when I ft it. It was large and painful, but seemed attached to the skin (moving with it).

Couldn't get a GP appointment but had a steroid/antibiotic cream left from a recent cyst elsewhere, so used this twice a day and the lump gradually got smaller and now go after a week, so guess it was a nasty boil although like you I couldn't really see a spot, it was only slightly red.

Grenola · 13/09/2021 20:09

Didn’t manage to get an appointment. Will call again in the morning. It hasn’t got bigger but not smaller either and doesn’t seem as an infection.

See your GP ASAP. I also have a lumpy underarm on one side - apparently its breast tissue. Like there isn't enough round the front...

Grenola · 16/09/2021 20:18

I still haven’t gotten thru to the gp.
It’s rediculous.

That being said, the lump is no longer painful and feel much less swollen and smaller.

Will still call again, but my gut feeling is it is going down and. I thing sinister

*nothing

I had this and had an ultrasound and it was just a lymph node. No idea why it came up so big and only on one side, I had no symptoms of anything and not even a scratch or bump that would explain it.

Grenola · 16/09/2021 20:27

Thanks kitti that is what I think it is
