Migraines/dehydration

I suffer with chronic headaches and migraines.

I try and drink around 3L or water a day, plus a few herbal teas. So that’s quite a lot of liquid!

If I don’t drink this amount, I can feel dehydrated. I can also feel dehydrated drinking the 3L+ a day, depending on what I’ve been doing.

I always feel dehydrated and headachey when I wake up in the mornings to the point where I have considered putting an alarm on my phone to wake up in the night for a glass of water. When I wake up, it’s like my brain feels dry (sorry that’s gross but it’s the only way to describe it!) - sometimes this will bring on a migraine.

Does anyone know why I’m like this/is anyone else the same? Is this something I should be concerned about? I’ve made an appointment with my GP just in case but I’ve got a few weeks to go to see her. I guess its just that different people need different amounts of liquid?

Thanks Smile

How sweaty are you?
On the rare occasion I didn't vom with my migraines I still sweat like a derby runner.
I use rehydration soluble tabs too to help with the cotton wool feeling or Lucozade at a push.

I’m not really a sweaty person! I do get a bit hot in the night though.

I use the rehydration sachets/tablets when needed.

Just feels like no matter how much I’m drinking, it’s not enough.

I've been hospitalised with dehydration from migraine a few times, it's definitely a major symptom for me but I get rid of the fluid in an obvious way! Two bags of fluids and back home.

You should absolutely mention it though it could be a symptom of something else or part of the migraine party.
I hate the dry sensation my brain just doesn't work.

My ed gets headaches and feels thirsty if she has too much water so will have something with sugar in. I think you can drink too much water.

That's a lot of liquid if you have herbal teas too, perhaps a blood test would be a good idea to check your electrokutes and for diabetes.
