He is trying to sleep at the minute but he keeps waking up coughing.

He has had a runny nose & been in really bad form for a few days now.

He has a cough that started yesterday, but nowhere near as bad as it is today. The c/minder said he couldn't eat his tea as he kept coughing

He is coughing as if there's something in his chest/throat that's making him yell when he coughs.

Has anyone any ideas? I got him a cough bottle but tbh he spat the spoonful out that I give him....

dd is on asthma inhalers.... but she never coughs like ds is coughing now

DD1 had bronchiolitis, and it was terrifying. Trick was to keep her calm, but I was told to get her in to hospital asap when I described what was happening to her chest

ds3 had a croupy cough a while back... does sound like barking. wasnt as bad as it can get by the sounds of it tho.

i medicated at night with medised, as its pain releif, temp control, eases breathing and 'aids sleep' all in one... then i slept with him in spare bed, propped right up on lots of pillows and with a big towel nearby for catching any big blobs of phlegm he may have produced [eww]

hope hes better soon

DS had this two weeks ago. They said if he began to have trouble breathing to take him to a&e for nebuliser. If you are in any doubt, go.

No, I don't think I'm panicked or anything. Both he & dd has bronchialitis as babies, so I know how bad it can get.

Dh says his cough sounds the same as it was the last time & when I took him to doc they said it was a chest infection but referred us to the local peadiatrics unit, who said it was a throat infection

Will keep him steamed tonight & he now has 2 pillows, but if he doesn't get much relief or sleep tonight I will call the doctor tomorrow

Actually, since he has been upright, ie: walking about after his daddy, he hasn't been coughing!!

Dh just came down & reminded me of the last time we had him at the hospital due to this.. they said it was his throat glands producing muchus/phleghm when he lay down... suppose we should hoke out telephone directories for under the legs of his bed again

I remember when dd was a baby we kept them under the legs of her cot permanently!

How is he this morning firefly? Hope you all got a good nights sleep.

fireflyxmasfairylights2 · 04/12/2007 10:53

Hi

We had him in with us & his head was on 2 pillows.

He coughed all night.

Then at about 3am he got up & told me he didn't want to sleep beside me anymore as we were too noisy Of course I blame dh's snoring!

He then went into his own wee bed & slept til 9am!

Since he has been up he has had very little coughing & no phleghm. I bet you a million pounds it will come back tonight again & is the start of asthma in him too...

I didn't call the doctor as he is in good form & as I say, when he isn't laying down, he is fine.

Thanks for all the advice last night girls
