Constant need to stretch

Over the past few days I've had this weird feeling, constantly. It's like the feeling when I need to stretch, but I feel it all the time. When I do stretch out arms, legs, spine, I get momentary relief, but then the feeling comes back almost straight away. I have no pain but the feeling is uncomfortable and has made me very restless. Like, last night I couldn't sit still on the sofa to watch TV, I was having to stand up and stretch myself all evening.
Has anyone experienced this? Is it a symptom of something? Any suggestions for how to get rid of it?
For context I am female mid-40s, probably peri-menopausal but no other health problems.

Hopeful bump for my weird body issue.

Sounds like restless legs syndrome, albeit in more parts of your body? Can be a sign of overtiredness...

Dopamine imbalance and iron deficiency are two potential culprits. See your gp if I were you

It is like restless leg syndrome! Can you get that in other parts of the body, not just legs?

Yes, i think so. It's a horrible feeling, I feel for you :(

Thank you. I will make an appt as you suggest, and up my iron intake just in case!

This sounds like acutte akathisia, which is a subjective feeling of inner restlessness and the urge to move about. I got this after an IV of Metoclopramide for chemotherapy nausea. It was one of the most unsettling experiences of my life. I had an uncontrollable urge to arch my back over many hours. It sounds sort of benign, but was horrific.

Are you on any meds, OP?

Summerdayshaze · 08/09/2021 01:55

Acute

fuzzymoomin · 08/09/2021 07:47

That sounds awful! Are you recovered? I'm not on any medication, just multivitamins since yesterday but nothing else.

Yes I was fine once it wore off. The doctor said it was a reasonably common side effect. It was totally bizarre.

Are you any better?

Today I do feel better actually, and since the weirdness has gone I'm even more confused about what it was Confused Maybe a hormonal fluctuation!
