Prednisolone insomnia

I'm taking a (thankfully) short course of prednisolone and being hit hard by insomnia as a side effect.

I take them first thing in the morning with food as recommended, have taken herbal nytol type things and even taken co-codamol in the hopes of feeling a bit drowsy but I've been lying in bed for 2 hours with no sign of sleep. I'm tired, but nothing.

Other than grin and bare it for the next three days, what can I do?

There’s not much you can do to be honest! Sorry. It’s a really well known side effect. Just get up very early and take them super early …! That’s the only advice I can give. (I take them a lot for asthma etc).

I was still awake at 3am this morning and considered taking them then! Less than 3 hours sleep 😴

Unfortunately it's a common side effect. I take a 9 week course when I require them, l don't normally start sleeping until I'm weaned down to a much lower dose (by about wk 5/6 of the 9)

God I remember this. I was whizzing my tits off.

@purplegirl13 you have my sympathy, that sounds horrible.
Sleep is very broken tonight but better than the previous night. Something is better than nothing, and there's always coffee in the morning.

Urgh god! Just found this and been up since 4 because am on 12 a day for a suspected virus. That’ll explain the awakeness!! Can’t even blame my newborn who’s sleeping soundly.

That's even worse! A sleeping baby is so rare and not being able to sleep... oh I feel for you. I've taken the last lot this morning and I am exhausted but scared to go to bed for fear of lying there for hours.
