Hip Replacement op

My Mum is having a hip replacement op next week (she's 71). My Dad is with her full time and is in good health and I am an hour away but wondering if anyone has any advice on things I can help with? Any nice ideas for gifts/things for her to do etc? My Dad is a great cook so no issue with food supply but I feel she will be really fed up and I wondered if anyone has any nice ideas for things to do / give her?

Also she seems slightly clueless on the recovery (perhaps through choice as trying not to think about it). Any tips on that would also be useful.

if you can arrange (private) physio for her that would get her back on her feet the quickest.

This ^^ is a good idea. Very important to do the exercises, way easier with coaching.

It’s so important for her to keep moving after a THR. It’s always those patients that sit waiting for things to improve on their own that unfortunately return for their follow ups with problems.

Get her a litter picker.

Ive known a few people who have had hip replacements and they have all shared this same bit of advice. They use it to grab things on the floor as well as pull up pants / trousers after using the loo.
