Laporoscopy Recovery time please

Not sure how much time I should expect to take off of work. I'm having a diagnostic laporoscopy because my consultant suspects endometrial scaring from a previous NovSure operation a few years back (basically I'm not expelling blood yet I find myself in tremendous pain during and after my initial period).
Does anyone have any idea what the recovery time is likely to be please.

I’ve had 2 laparoscopies, to burn away endometriosis and drill my ovaries. Both times it took about 3 days until I could get up and about without too much pain but I was all fine within a week. The first day is obviously the worst, especially if you have gas pains in your shoulders. You’ll have some stitches too. You need to factor in a weeks recovery I think. Best of luck.

Hi OP, I'm going in for one shortly. I've been advised to take 6 weeks off but from reading quite a bit online it can vary. The Hyster Sisters website forum is quite good for advice on what to expect

It really depends on what they find and do. I had one a few years ago. I only had a small amount of Endo which they zapped with diathermy. It goes to show as they say that the amount of Endo isn’t always proportional to the amount of pain you experience, I had severe pain before my op! I was relieved the pain was gone. I was post-op sore but it eased quite quickly and I was back at work within 4 weeks (bearing in mind I’d been off for a while with the abdo pain I’d been experiencing).

Good luck, I hope it helps.

A diagnostic laparoscopy is a quick minimally invasive keyhole procedure with little after effects.

I would say book a couple of days off to get over the GA.
