Magnesium and jittery side effects

Hi,

I'm almost 50 have underactive thyroid medicated with 150 levothyroxine which is doing well. take Vit D as recommended by doctors, iron tablets, etc.

Due to menopausal sleep issues the other day I started to take magnesium liquid (floradix brand) - 20ml - recommended by health food shop person. I also use the magnesium body butter at night.

I have been feeling quite jittery and a bit anxious since starting this (2 days ago) but have also not been sleeping well the past week anyway. I never normally get anxious or panicky.

Is the jittery/anxious due to too much magnesium or starting it too high too soon etc?

thanks

When did you last have your thyroid blood test? Only asking as I was jittery & turns out I needed to adjust my dose despite it being fine for the previous 5 or so years.
The magnesium could be affecting your levels though.

You aren’t taking iron with your thyroxine are you?

I’ve just reduced my thyroid dose after realising I was really anxious. A week and a half later and I’m calming down. Thyroid levels can change and there are some studies that show in the summer they naturally increase (or decrease in winter). With all the relatively nice weather lately I wonder if that could affect it?

I am taking floradix iron with levothyroxine as doctor told me to.

Last got thyroid levels tested a month ago and fine.

Sorry if I wasn’t clear, I meant taking the iron at the same time as taking your thyroxine, it affects absorption. You need to leave a gap after taking the thyroxine, BTF used to recommend 2 hours but I think most GPs say an hour now.

ah right - no I take iron first thing in the morning and thyroxine later in the evening!
