Any IBS sufferers out there?

So I'm late 20s, and 6 weeks ago had abdominal pain develop. It's largely lower abdomen pain but sometimes higher. I felt very gassy (upper and lower) and had variable bowed habits. No blood in stool, no nausea or vomiting.
My anxiety went through the roof and I stopped eating which led to weight loss for the first week or so, but that has stabled (or even reversed since)
The pain has come and gone since then (have had 3 'flares' of pain lasting 2-7 days each).
Have had normal bloods (including ca125h), urine, stool culture negative, QFit negative, USS scans, CT abdo pelvis and flexi sig. calprotectin 180 which I gather is probably normal but possibly some inflammation.
Have appointment for colonoscopy soon.

I'm starting to think it's going to be IBS. (As have weeks of complete normalness between 'attacks')

My query is- has anyone here had sudden onset start of IBS like this? I was in hospital being assessed by surgeons for appendicitis or obstruction when it first started and it really came from nowhere.

Any personal experience welcome. (Please don't tell me to see a doctor as already have and investigations ongoing Smile)

I have ibs constipation and ibs diahoera and since having an activmal drink every morning I've noticed a massive difference to my bowel habits.

Yes, after a period of stress (parent being diagnosed with cancer) I also thought the worst and did eventually have a colonoscopy which was clear.

I have had a sensitive stomach since having dd 4 years ago. I recently went to the Dr's as I was having lots of cramps and needing the loo more. Cramps were always before a bm and went completely after. I tied myself up in knots with it and almost stopped eating with the stress. I have had full bloods done and calprotectin, and Dr examined me externally for swellings etc, and apparently I am in good health. I have been told ibs but tbh I am not sure whether I should push for more invasive investigation? I was told there was no inflammation and if it was anything more serious then there would be. And my bloods were very good? I am 40 and in good health, I eat well and I run, I feel great tbh apart from this issue. Some days are better than others but mostly I am going for bm at least twice a day. Sometimes it's normal and sometimes it's urgent and loose. The cramps have not been so bad since I reduced dairy intake.
