Worried about lump under armpit?

HumDumMum · 28/08/2021 09:45

A few days ago I noticed under my armpit was really tender. I had a feel and there's a lump about the size of a pea and 2-3 smaller lumps under it. Tender to touch and I think a bit itchy but not sure if that's my imagination.
I'm 35 weeks pregnant. I've looked online and scared myself stupid as every other armpit lump seems to be breast cancer.
Has anyone had anything similar? Photo not great but best I could get myself.

Ingrown hairs, abscesses, blocked sweat glands.....noone can tell you without examining action. Phone your docs on Monday and stop googling!

Annoyedandirritated · 28/08/2021 09:50

Same happened to me when pregnant but mine got bigger. Was hormones x

HumDumMum · 28/08/2021 09:54

@Annoyedandirritated were yours tender? Did they feel like pea sized lumps? Did they just go away on their own?

Lots of people having them after the covid vaccine but you must get it checked anyway Smile

Kittii · 28/08/2021 21:38

Do you shave your armpits? Looks like an ingrown hair to me. I would leave it a week or two and if it hasn't gone down go to see the GP but it's likely to be nothing worrying (I've had breast cancer and am a worrier and even I would leave it a while before I started worrying.)

HumDumMum · 28/08/2021 21:48

@Kittii don't you think so? That's made me feel a bit better. Yes I do shave and I've been staying with my mum so using her razor xx

I had an abscess there and had to have it removed in day surgery. Like you I was scared it might be cancer. But get it checked out for peace of mind.

PiffleWiffleWoozle · 28/08/2021 21:59

I had this and it turned out to be a spot that went down again. Do get it checked out though for peace of mind, and on the small chance it is something that needs treated ASAP.

Kittii · 28/08/2021 22:02

The fact that you have a few red lumps there would make me think it's much more likely to be an ingrown hair or skin irritation than anything worrying. I'm (understandably) paranoid about things like this after having breast cancer but I would personally leave it a while and I bet it clears up on its own. Obviously if it doesn't then go and get it checked out but tender to touch and slightly itchy sounds much more like a skin irritation/mild infection than a cancerous lump.

Mine was during pregnancy - blocked milk ducts

I had that after the covid vaccine

IvorAlotOfHeadaches · 28/08/2021 22:33

I had similar a few years ago. A GP friend had a look and asked if I had had any small injuries to that same arm and I then pointed out a small cut on my lower arm. It was just a small, now healing, graze/cut and she said that it was likely a swollen lymph node in response to the graze/cut. The armpit lump went away within a couple of weeks.

alexdgr8 · 28/08/2021 22:38

never use somebody else's razor, or toothbrush.
may be an infection.
ring doc monday morning.

Kittii · 31/08/2021 13:25

Any change OP?

HumDumMum · 31/08/2021 18:28

I put some savalon on it for the past few nights and I haven't shaved since Friday and it seems to have gone down an awful lot! x

When my milk came in I got sore lymph nodes under both arms. I also get them now and again if I Nick myself shaving.

PiffleWiffleWoozle · 31/08/2021 19:54

Hoorah OP!

cherrypiepie · 31/08/2021 20:10

I've had these about 4 times and they are soo painful!

They are some type of infected sebaceous cyst (I think) abs all but one time they disappeared after a few weeks and one time I need a course of antibiotics (after a month I went to gp) and it cleared up.

HumDumMum · 31/08/2021 22:50

@PiffleWiffleWoozle haha thank you! I'm wondering if I cut myself shaving but it was too tiny to see and it caused the nearest lymph node to swell up x

OP posts:
Senorasurf · 31/08/2021 22:57

I would bet money on this just being a swollen lymph node xx

Satsumaonaplate · 26/04/2022 02:50

I had this both pregnancies and it was milk - I can actually squeeze some out. Best see your GP to be sure

Anchita · 02/08/2023 09:06

I have same .can you tell me what was it
I am hell scared now

FernandaPS · 14/10/2024 13:42

Hi I just wondered what your lumps turned out to be? I've had breast cancer too but on the opposite side and I have lumps exactly like this.
