Coeliac help!

Im coeliac and have never accidentally eaten any significant amount of gluten since being diagnosed. Due to a bit of a catering fuck up this evening, there’s a chance I’ve just eaten a fairly large amount. Before when I’ve had it accidentally it’s been tiny amounts so symptoms have not been severe.
What symptoms can I expect? Diarrhoea I can cope with, but I am emetophobic and am now in a huge panic about the possibility of it making me throw up. Is that a common symptom?

I’m really sorry to say this but gluten does make me throw up now. Never used to pre diagnosis. It is just once though generally a couple of hours after I’ve eaten it, hasn’t happened often just twice due to catering screw ups too!

I’m at 1.5 hours now and I’m thinking (hoping!) that throwing up would be a symptom that would be more likely to occur sooner, within the first few hours, than later.
There’s also a chance I’ve had no gluten at all, and I’m hoping the lack of any significant symptoms by now means that maybe I’m ok. My only symptoms at the moment are nausea and some stomach pain but to be honest I’ve given myself such a panic attack from worrying about it I can’t be sure it’s not anxiety driven at the moment!

I get severe stomach cramp, bloating, gas, diahorrea much more than vomiting but I am recently diagnosed. I also get intense joint pain and literally wake up feeling hungover - like, exactly the same as a hangover!! Hope you haven’t been glutened - it’s shit! (Literally)

How are you getting on OP?

TiddleTaddleTat · 27/08/2021 23:47

Oh you poor thing. It's awful isn't it. For me the symptoms would come on within 30 mins, usually stomach pain is the worst, followed by severe fatigue. I'm also terrified of throwing up and am more likely to have terrible nausea. Really hope you've managed to avoid being glutened.

Hope you are OK. I am completely silent so can't help on the usual symptoms but hoping the night is peaceful for you!

I am never sick but I feel like I have flu or a terrible 3 day hangover. I also get a dreadful nighttime nausea that’s like sea sickness if it’s from wheat not barley or rye (so bread or pasta etc). My daughter is also Coeliac snd totally different as she gets stomach pain and poor behaviour/emotional distress but she’s quite young and that’s quite common. Lots and lots and then more water and full fat Coke with little food helps. Good luck!

Thanks everyone!
I was fine overnight so I think I’ve lucked out and didn’t have the gluten after all.
