For the last 3 months I've had stomach aches, gnawing pains, lighter coloured stools, diarrhea, aches, pains and terrible back ache and felt generally exhausted. I went to the GP who ordered stool tests immediately and blood tests and an ultrasound that I haven't yet had. My dad died of stomach cancer and my mum of bile duct cancer. The blood tests are all cancer related due to my family history. The result of the stool test is positive for H Pylori and I'm currently waiting for the GP to ring me. Has anyone got any experience of this, I'd be extremely grateful for any advice. I also get hot sweats which I put down to my age (53) and because I haven't had a period since June, assumed I was peri menopausal. I'm also wondering if I have a stomach ulcer as I get a gnawing pain in my right lower abdomen occasionally. Will the Hpylori meds cure that too and do ulcers go hand in hand with Hpylori? I've googled it but my head is spinning!

DF had it, antibiotics sorted it and he has been fine since. I hope you feel better soon & all is ok with your blood tests.

www.nhs.uk/conditions/stomach-ulcer/causes/
“Stomach ulcers are usually caused by Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) bacteria or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). These can break down the stomach's defence against the acid it produces to digest food, allowing the stomach lining to become damaged and an ulcer to form.”

H Pylori is the bacteria which erodes the lining of the gut and causes stomach ulcers . If this is what you've got , you'll be treated with a cocktail of antibiotics which should fix the ulcer.within a couple of weeks.
