Still making milk, not breast feeding!?!

This is a bit weird. I have DD who is now 21 months old. I breast fed her until she was 10 weeks old BUT I still seem to make milk, its only a tiny tiny amount, but I have noticed dried powdery stuff on me and today I actually saw a small amount come out while I was in the shower. I'm not particulary worried about this but isn't this a bit odd?

My milk took 8 months to go, and my friend said it was nearly 12 months before her milk went after feeding her daughter for 6m. So no, not wierd, just a bit longer than I've come across before.
Are you thinking of having another? If your periods have returned but you are still making milk you will be very fertile at least thats what my doc told me and it worked - 16m age gap!

I still produced milk 2 years after stopping breastfeeding, I was prescribed something by GP to stop it, which didn't really do the trick. I then went on the pill for a few months and that sorted it.

This is caused by excess prolactin levels. This can affect ovulation but can be treated with tablets.

Jellynump - if your periods are heavy and or problematic would ask for gynae referral. Don't put up with it!.

I still produce milk 16 months after stopping breastfeeding - not loads but I sometimes notice it in the shower. Weird eh?!
