Cellulitis

I was diagnosed with Cellulitis 10 days ago and given Doxycycline plus hydrocortisone ointment (to be used up to 7 days only). Took the Doxy for just over 3 days but had to contact on-call Dr last Saturday due to dizziness, vertigo, blurred vision etc. Dr said sounds like low BP, a known side-effect so advised to stop taking and switched to Flucloxacillin.
The skin seemed to improve a bit with the first tablets (and/or the ointment) but has only improved slowly since then since changing tablets. But, I got deeper pain, in the muscles, after starting the Flucolaxaillin. I read that symptoms can worsen at first as the bacteria die and cause damage.

So, my tablets run out tomorrow. The skin is pink rather than bright red now but the patches are no smaller. And the muscle pain hasn't gone yet. Is this ok, does anyone know? Will it continue healing, or should I be asking for more meds? It says finish the course, which gave me the impression they might expect it to be better by the time they are gone.

Call the doctor again.

My DH has been hospitalised with severe cellulitis three times. It needs a lot of IV antibiotics to shift the bacterial infection. The pink appearance is a good sign. Your skin is almost like sunburn which is healing. It can peel. I do think you need it checked out though.

Please seek additional medical help.

I have been hospitalised for weeks due to untreated cellulitis. 2 surgery's and 18 months later still suffering with swelling. Please get seen ASAP. Better safe than sorry

I'll see if I can get to a walk-in centre or something tomorrow. My Gps don't open Saturdays and it's impossible to get an appointment on a Monday.
Thanks again.

I've had cellulitis 5 or 6 times. The doctor said you're more likely to pick it up again once you've had it.

I've caught it early twice and got antibiotics straight away. All the other times it's been a couple of days where I've though it was something else and I've needed IV to get shot of it.
