Come out in spots-what could this be?

misoltoemummy · 30/11/2007 15:13

Have come out in spots which are redish on the outside and scabby in the middle.
Sorry if too much information.

They are on the top and lower half of my back ,my arms ,some near my ankles and botom half of legs ,a couple on my staomach and on one of my boobs.

Not sure if it is an allergy as have none on my face and neck and wondered if it was a clothes washing detergent.
But these are spots rather than a rash.
It isvery itchy and have made them bleed where i keep itching them.

Anyone have any ideas what it could be?

Have you got any pets, as this sounds like the flea bites I got when the cat had fleas. I didn't have a clue until they started biting me, mainly on the ankles and lower legs, but also where tight bits of clothing were, such as round the waistband of my jeans.try anti-histamine tablets, or bathing in a small bath with half a cup of bicarbonate of soda dissolved in it.

talktothebees · 30/11/2007 15:36

erm....chickenpox?
google it and have a look at the images you get.

misoltoemummy · 30/11/2007 15:37

HI jumble ,I don't have any pets and have not been in contact with any.

Could try the bicarb bath anyway to see if that helps.

I'm wondering scabies, taht's very itchy and causes spots in the places you've described.

misoltoemummy · 30/11/2007 15:40

I wondered about chickenpox.

Not been in contact with anyone with chicken pox but am at the school everyday, could i have picked it up that way.

My children seem ok.

I am in my early forties and can't remember how bad I had chicken pox as a child .
Could i get it again?

I have none on my face though.

colditz · 30/11/2007 15:40

sounds like chicken pox

Google rashes

belgo · 30/11/2007 15:41

is it particularly itchy at night?

misoltoemummy · 30/11/2007 15:41

belgo-how would I have contracted scabies?

Don't know anything about that

OP posts:
colditz · 30/11/2007 15:41

You can get chicken pox again, if your immunity to is is a bit low.

belgo · 30/11/2007 15:43

scabies is contacted through close physical contact - but I don't think it's that common. It takes several weeks to develop. Typically it doesn't appear on the face but does appear on all other parts ot the body, in particular the warmest parts - the ankles especially if you wear socks.

And elbows, wrists, back.

belgo · 30/11/2007 15:44

scabies is intensely itcy, especially at night time.

misoltoemummy · 30/11/2007 15:45

Hi,yes it does seem more itchy at night.

They havev brown scabs on them and are just horrible.
Like i have scratched myself on something.

OP posts:
belgo · 30/11/2007 15:46

I actually caught scabies as a teenager from a boyfriend which is why I know about it.

belgo · 30/11/2007 15:46

and it took three visits to the GP before it was diagnosed.

misoltoemummy · 30/11/2007 15:50

colditz-I am feeling really run down and have a lot going on at the moment, feeling really stressed and my anxiety levels are at an all time high.

belgo-that does sound like a good description of my symptoms .

But why would you get scabies?

OP posts:
Columbia · 30/11/2007 15:52

I think scabies is usually on your hands, writs, fingers and sometimes genitals before it goes anywhere else. Also there would be much itching before the rash appeared I think.
Sounds like ch.p.to me

Did you google it?

belgo · 30/11/2007 15:56

or it could simply be a reaction to a washing detergent as you mentioned in your OP

misoltoemummy · 30/11/2007 16:03

HI columbia-I did googleitand I have not got any on my hands or between my fingers or genital area.

Do have a few on my wrists.

OP posts:
misoltoemummy · 30/11/2007 16:08

Just googled chicken pox and sounds similar but can't remember seeing the spots filled with clear liquid.

Just the reddness and the light brown scabs appearing.

OP posts:
CarGirl · 30/11/2007 16:08

how long have you had them and are the first batch beginning to fade/shrink disappear?

belgo · 30/11/2007 16:13

it doesn't really sound like chicken pox especially if you don't actually feel ill.

I don't think it's scabies either as mostly this starts on the hands especially if it is caught through hand holding.

so some sort of reaction to something is a possibility - you may be more vulnerable then usual if you are run down.

misoltoemummy · 30/11/2007 16:20

HI started to notice them a few days ago and then more appeared.

Don't have any on my hands at all.

The ones that are fading are jusr dry around the outside.

I did have a cold appear at the start of the week and a bad headache.

OP posts:
belgo · 30/11/2007 16:22

possibly some sort of reaction to the cold virus. a post viral outbreak of spots.

misoltoemummy · 30/11/2007 16:25

My mind is working over time now.

Will have to get it checked out on Monday as doubt I will get to see a doctor at the weekend.

I have 2 children so worried it might be something they could catch.

It's just gradually increased the last day or so and thought they would fade.

Got MIL coming to saty tomorrow for 3 days so really bad timing.

OP posts:
belgo · 30/11/2007 16:26

if it's a post viral rash or a reaction to washing detergent or reaction to something else then it's not contagious.
