it's either bleeding piles or blood in faeces

how do i tell though?

am guessing the latter potentially more serious

have had farmers since ds2 born 2 1/2 months ago but they've shrunk back down to almost nothing and they've never bled before

Tutter · 30/11/2007 12:49

i had a bit of lower abdo pain earlier

is it bright red?

TMI but have you had a really hard, spiky poo recently? you might have cut yourself there.

foxinsocks · 30/11/2007 12:50

aah you should see a doc then tutter I'm afraid

Tutter · 30/11/2007 12:51

yes, bright red

no to hedgehog poos

how much blood was it? If you have diarrhea, then that could cause a bit of soreness which could mean a little bit of bleeding, but not much.

And was it definitely blood? not a piece of undigested red peeper/tomatoe? (I know that seems like a stupid question, but some undigested foods can look like blood

Have you had any abdominal problems before?

foxinsocks · 30/11/2007 12:52

do you feel unwell? I had blood in poo when I had a really nasty tummy infection.

foxinsocks · 30/11/2007 12:52

(you sure it's not a period coming?)

Tutter · 30/11/2007 12:52

sorry but lol at red peppers

def def blood

looked quite a lot, but difficult to tell i suppose once it's diluted int he toilet (iykwim)

thought tummy ache might mean dreaded return of periods, but no - i have shocking knowledge of anatomw, but am sure it's from the Other Place

lol at hedgehog poo!

Gastroenteritis can sometimes lead to blood in the poo.

It could also be bleeding piles that are made worse by the diarrhea.

You should see the doctor, you may need to provide a sample

foxinsocks · 30/11/2007 12:55

you can get internal piles too but it's always better to get bleeding from the Other Place checked out.

I know it's not fun (!) but it doesn't take them long to have a look see.

Tutter · 30/11/2007 12:57

ok, thanks

foxy, are yuou welsh, with your look-see-ing?

foxinsocks · 30/11/2007 12:59

lol

as I wrote it, I thought it sounded very unlike me.

but it felt right in the context of Bottom talk.

When I had my dreaded infection, they stuck a huge probe up there to get a sample so it might be worth phoning in advance and asking if it's likely they'll need a sample then you can prepare one in advance (pick up a sterile pot from them etc.).

Oh, Tutter don't mean to alarm you but please go see a doctor. Had two loved ones ignore this in past and both turned out to be colon cancer .

Probably not but not worth the risk specially cause colon cancer is sooo treatable if caught early enough.

loopylou6 · 30/11/2007 15:07

what u ABSOLUTELY need to do is fish the next poo out the toilet and break it open to see if theres blood inside the poo, if theres not then its most likely come from piles.
