Tick

I found a tick on my wrist this afternoon and pulled it off (and flushed it down the toilet Blush) .

I can't see anything where it was, does that mean it probably didn't actually bite me.

There was a bit of resistance as I pulled it but it came of fairly easy.

You have to twist them off. Did you see it’s head and legs? If not ,the head may still be in your wrist. Keep an eye on it. If it gets at all red, call NHS 24 for advice.

You don't have to twist them. A firm pull upwards is
fine if you have hold of the head. Keep an eye out for spreading redness where you found it, or feeling flu-ey. With either of those you may need antibiotics.

I pulled it up. It was the whole tick, definitely nothing left behind.

Thank you both

Gross, they’re so revolting. When do you think it got you? Chances of Lyme Disease very, very low if it was attached for less than 24hrs.

Oh that's good. It's definitely less than 24 hours. It was on my wrist by my watch so I'm confident I got it very quick. I'd say it was there less than an hour.

You should be fine. I had five on me at once a few years ago (hideous) and the doctor I spoke to said that since I got them off within a max of 5 or 6 hours I really didn’t need to worry. Apparently it takes quite a while for the bacteria to move through the digestive tract and into your blood stream. Phew.

RoseAndGeranium · 13/08/2021 23:14

Have you checked carefully for others? Most of mine were on my arm but one had made its way to my belly button area.

ihavespoken · 13/08/2021 23:15

Keep an eye out for the rash- if you get it (bullseye) go to the docs straight away and they will give you antibiotics. If treated straight away then the treatment is effective ☺️

TheWristBoundLatexBitch · 13/08/2021 23:46

I've checked everywhere. I keep getting the feeling something is on me since I found it.

I'll keep a lookout for any rash though just incase. As I said it was by my watch so I should spot anything.
