Terrified I have lymphoma

Trying to rationalise everything but I’ve got myself into a panicked state. I’ve had persistent itching on scalp and neck which suddenly started 18 months ago. Put it down to pet allergy at first as my eyes were swelling up at first too. It got so bad we ended up rehoming our wee dog. She’s been away over 12 months now. The itching has never stopped. For the last 8 months I’ve had 4 different lymph nodes swell and go back down again. Currently have 2 on my neck that are still up. One on the side and one at the back. The back one feels like a hard pea sided lump and the side one just feels like more large and swollen. I’ve had a persistent temp this last week but admittedly it could be down to stress as I googled my symptoms last week and absolutely froze with fear when I saw that I had symptoms for lymphoma. Now I don’t know if the temp is a symptom or not. But thinking back I have been hot flushing and sweating more than usual the last few months. Had 2 night sweats that I can think of. Seen the doctor on Tuesday who said my lymph nodes are reactive and he took bloods. I’m only in my thirties. I know no one can diagnose me but can anyone can advise if they would also be really concerned.

My DF's main symptoms were lack of energy, weight loss and night sweats. Have you had the first two?

Countryside08 · 12/08/2021 23:00

No weight loss and energy levels are up and down.

From the limited snout ice read on Lymphoma I think that not having wright loss is really positive. Hopefully you'll find it's something much less serious Thanks

A friend of mine had bloods done on Friday as she felt rough. By midnight Friday, she'd had 7 missed calls from the doctor. She was on the haematology ward by 9am the next day having been diagnosed with a rare type of lymphoma.

They would be right on it as your bloods would show something.

Try to remain calm. 😘

I had an awful rash. Itching and burning. Seems to be a flare up of long dormant eczema. Now on immunosuppressants. Only thing that settles it.
Also night sweats. A side effect of my fibromyalgia.
Don’t Google.

I manage for about 5 mins to focus and rationalise then lose it again every time I look at my DD’s. We lost my young nephew just before lockdown to a cancer that is normally very treatable/curable. The worst experience of our lives. I think that is part of the reason I’m struggling to keep calm now. His GP knew something wasn't right from his bloods as well and sent him to the teenage cancer unit to be seen 2 days after they were taken. From what I’ve read lymphoma may not present itself in standard blood tests and they can often come back normal. I think I’ll need to call gp again tomorrow. I only noticed the one at the back of my neck is back tonight hence the absolute panic!

I have a similar worry to you, I have a lymph node up on my collarbone. I've had blood tests and waiting for a scan. I've been told mine is probably reactive to the covid vaccine but until I get that scan I wint shop worrying. My node can be really sore at times.

I know this is an old thread but just wondering what the outcome was as I have very similar symptoms

Countryside08 · 05/06/2024 23:03

My lymph nodes were checked by ultrasound. The largest one in my neck is still there but they said it’s 3 enlarged nodes clumped together and will unlikely ever return to normal. I’m happy enough with that and try not to worry about it now.
