Has anyone had private squint surgery?

And if so, would you mind telling me what it cost roughly?
My young adult DS is on a waiting list at our local hospital but we have no idea when it will be done. The best the surgeon would say was that he was hopeful it would be under 12 months. I dont have much faith in the local hospital anyway due to previous issues and my DS has suffered enough. He's had pretty much the whole of 6th form disrupted not only by Covid but by having double vision as well.
We aren't in the best position financially at present but if I can afford it I will. It would just be helpful to have a ballpark figure before I start investigating so I know if its remotely possible for us. We dont have any insurance so would be paying up front ourselves.

I'm looking into this at the moment, though for adult squint surgery. I was quoted £6.5k for the surgery and 2 follow up appointments.

Around the £3k mark here but not sure if that is for one or both eyes:

My daughter had it done when she was 15, it worked but she did struggle with the recovery - we only expected her to be off school for a week or so but she was off nearly a month as she was in that much pain with it.
