Broken Elbow

I have broken my elbow (X-ray yesterday which confirmed). Looking for people's stories of healing. The pain has been like a dull ache and I didn't know if it was broken immediately. Been told not to go to work or do much with it. It is not my dominant hand.

If you have had the same what was the pain like? Were you able to do much away around the house and when could you return to work?

When I broke my elbow a couple of years ago it was the worst pain I've experienced (worse than childbirth, worse that ovarian cysts bursting). But that was mostly because my muscles started spasming and every time that happened it would pull the fracture against things in my elbow. It was horrible.

The pain didn't last too long, though, a couple of days (and it was only that bad for the first day). Took a few weeks to heal.

I can't fully straighten my elbow now, though I'm OK with that since I'm hypermobile and it used to over-extend. Otherwise there's no problem with it now.

The weird thing is that the fracture was too small to show on the x-ray, though the Dr was confident there was one. I can't believe that such a tiny fracture caused me so much pain.

Broke mine aged 11, pins still in it now, I’m 27 and to date had 13 ops on it (lots of keyhole, several fully open) as I grew little fragments of bone needed removing. countless physio appointments, had vice treatment, several arm straightening braces, hydrotherapy and hot wax treatments over the years. Still don’t have full movement, I’d say 6 days out of 7 it bothers me pain wise. Wouldn’t say it stops me doing much just have to keep a good stock of pain relief.
