Have just been sent home from college as I had just nearly fainted. I went to the toilet and although i have been on for the past couple of days (TMI sry) I have started leaking loads of bright red blood, it smells strongly of fish and is that much that I have had to change my towel within half and hour of a clean one which also leaked through to my jeans. Stupidly I drove home and nearly fainted I have just been in to the drs to see someone and have an apointment at 4:30pm. I currently have the implanon implant in which is being removed on Friday as it has cause irregular periods (3 weeks on 1 week off)but its never been this kind of bleeding before. Has anyone else had this experience please??

poor you. You're doing the right thing by seeing the doc. I have v. heavy periods these days and it's not pleasant, but take tablets to control the bleeding. Try not to worry (easier said than done, I know). Take a cab to the doctors if you can

smell might just be due to large amount of blood. Might also be something as unworrying as a slight infection (eg thrush or something) Your Dr will be able to advise, unlikely they can do any tests til you've finished your period. Go have a nap, then 4:30 will come round more quickly. Let us know how you get on.

hi lil ty again for the reasurrance. The Gp said hes almost certain it is to do with the implant and nothing more sinister. He has given me some meds to stop the bleeding and then he has made an appointment for me to have a swap taken once bleeding has stopped, due to the smell. Thanks again
