Had a molar removed from my bottom jaw on friday. The dentist struggled to get it out and said he had to leave a tiny fragment of bone in there as it wouldnt budge. im now on day 5 post extraction and im still taking painkillers and rinsing with salt water. The pain is unpleasant but not unbearable. ive now started to get what looks like a white cloud or scab or something on the extraction site. can somebody please tell me if this is normal. please be nice. Ive got health anxiety and it took a lot to go to the dentist in the first place as I have a huge phobia of them.

I wasnt sure if it was food but i keep swilling and its not moving.

It's normal, I had a molar out a couple of weeks ago and also have health anxiety. It's a sign of healing.

The fragment may worm it out of the hole at some point, keep rinsing with warm salty water.

Its normal, it's the start of the extraction site filling in.

It's normal to be in pain for up to a couple of weeks especially if a difficult extraction, however if the pain is worsening rather than improving it could be a sign of infection or dry socket. But if the pain is generally getting better every day I wouldn't be too worried.
