We got here Saturday and Sunday morning ds age 3 woke up with a temp of 39 and a bit wheezy, a little off his food.
Been giving him calpol throughout yday and he went to sleep at 6pm with no dinner. He has been unsettled overnight with a very crackly and wheezy sounding chest and woke at 7am struggling to breathe, thankfully I'd slept next to him so heard him gulping. Sat him up and he immediately bought up a load of water and mucus and has been asleep again since.
I feel he probably has a chest infection, he has suffered with them since birth and antibiotics usually sort him quickly however we are 4.5 hrs from on on a Haven site ☹
WWYD? I don't even know if we will be allowed to get him seen due to covid! I did lateral flow him yesterday which was negative (I don't think he will ever let me do that to him again!)

He needs seeing so ring 111 to get on the list as I know the wait for a call back has been very long this weekend in many areas.
If you're really worried she struggling to breath then A&E.

He does need a Covid PCR test though, lateral flow only for asymptomatic individuals.

Contact the site office immediately
They will have info on emergency Dr's
You could also phone 111

Shouldbedoing · 02/08/2021 08:07

Call 111 who will likely sent you to an emergency GP appointment an a 'visitor'. Or phone Guest services to ask where to find a doctor. Don't go to A and E unless told to. He could actually have Covid and needs a PCR with those symptoms, but yes, you're right, if he's prone to chest infections, it will likely be the usual. He'll bounce back with some antibiotics (and calpol)

Reception will be able to help you access medical care.

Bagelsandbrie · 02/08/2021 08:08

I’ve had shingles before on holiday at a Haven. I rang 111 and they got me a doctors appointment at the nearest doctors which was 5 mins walk away. Hope your little one feels better soon.

KurtWilde · 02/08/2021 08:19

I've stayed at haven loads over the years and needed doctors for DC/myself. If you call 111 or even the local doctors surgery they'll organise something for you. One holiday camp we stayed on had a resident GP!

TheVolturi · 02/08/2021 08:25

There will be an info pack with your welcome documents with the details of nearest gp.

Whichjab · 02/08/2021 08:27

He needs a PCR and you all need to isolate.

30degreesandmeltinghere · 02/08/2021 08:29

Pre Covid my 3 got a bug. Sent dh to town for a dvd player and some films. A week in didn't seem so bad!
Hope your dc feels better soon.

DGFB · 02/08/2021 08:32

He needs a PCR and you need to phone 111 for a doc

tintodeverano2 · 02/08/2021 09:03

Doctor might not see until he's had a pcr. Get him tested ASAP.

Lexi198 · 02/08/2021 13:00

Just to update, I spoke to a local gp surgery who said we should be okay to take him to the local minor injuries unit due to his history. When I got there they sent one of the in charge nurses out to see us and she checked his temp which was fine (I did say it had been high) but she still saw us.
He was slumped on me, pale and asleep and clearly unwell. She listened to his chest and couldn't believe how bad the one side was. We have now left with 5 days worth of amoxycillin and I'm praying he perks up soon. Currently he is asleep on the sofa. He can't can't sip water without immediately bringing it back up, there is so much mucus on his chest.
Thanks for the advice this morning, really grateful.

So glad you have been seen - Even though you have been seen the antibiotics can take time to kick in - so if he doesn't keep water down or is struggling with breathing or doesn't pick up - just go to local children's A&E.

Hope he gets better over the day

Lexi198 · 02/08/2021 14:01

Thank you @windowstothesoul I will do. He is asleep again now, hasn't really been awake all day. Keeping a close eye as he does seem to be particularly struggling this time 😞

Got everything crossed that he's much better tomorrow op! Kids do seem to pick up dramatically fast so hopefully 🤞🏻

@Whichjab

There are more illnesses out there than covid. Your advice to just isolate is dangerous.

People should still seek medical treatment for things other than covid

Bagelsandbrie · 02/08/2021 18:34

Hope he picks up quickly. So worrying when they’re so poorly.
