Anyone recommend a good mattress that has helped back pain?

Tempur. Not cheap but worth every penny.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 31/07/2021 19:48

The Premier Inn one. Fabulous. It is a hypnos mattress so excellent value for money and sooooo comfortable and supportive.

supadupapupascupa · 31/07/2021 19:51

We have an EVE mattress. We've bought two now I love them

FruitBadger · 31/07/2021 19:54

We got an Otty last week. DH thinks it's amazing, I've developed back and shoulder pain since sleeping on it. Bloody horrible. It's going back!

FruitBadger · 31/07/2021 19:56

We got Otty pillows too. Mine is also going back, it's given me neck & jaw pain because it's so dense.

cultkid · 31/07/2021 19:57

Tempur

I have the softest one in super king

It's 5 years old still perfect

A life changer

Plump82 · 31/07/2021 19:58

We got a Emma mattress and after the 1st night my back pain was gone. People said in reviews its very warm but we got it right at the heat wave and didn't find it any warmer than our old one. We managed to get 42% off so it was a good price as well.

bristlingbush · 31/07/2021 20:00

Millbrook beds are the best IMO

dazzlerdo · 31/07/2021 20:01

Thanks all. We were looking at tempur last week and found one we liked but wanted to be 100% before buying.
The premier inn beds are really comfy never thought of those.
Will have a look into eve ones now.
We had an otty ending up giving it away, I hated it also the pillows as well.
We do have the tempur pillows and think they are amazing

If you like the Premier Inn beds take a look at a site called Brand Alley they have different offers on every day and todays offer was Hypnos mattresses, I think they have 50% off. I've bought quite a few things from Brand Alley and not had any problems.

IKEA Hovag medium firm. I’ve spent a fortune on mattresses and this one is honestly the best.

I’ve got terrible problems with my back and have had spinal surgery. My spinal surgeons and pelvic surgeon don’t recommend any type of memory foam mattress and I have to say I agree. Your body sets into one position and it’s really difficult to initiate a turn in bed. We had one for a while and it made me so bad I was on really strong opiates until we made the link.

DS1 is hyper mobile, he bought a memory foam topper used it for a week and could hardly move.

CityDweller · 31/07/2021 20:10

We just spent a lot on an organic latex one. We got the Una one. We’re about 2 months in and really like it. It’s helped a lot with my bad back and we really like how we can have different firmness on each of our sides. It’s a clever design I think. But it was really expensive…

supadupapupascupa · 31/07/2021 20:14

The premium hybrid is the one (two) we have

LadyLolaRuben · 31/07/2021 20:19

Go into Dreams and they'll do an analysis of your sleeping posture and recommend mattresses to meet your needs. It did me the world of good

Querty123456 · 31/07/2021 20:38

I bought a simba hybrid - I wouldn’t recommend! Already got a lump down the middle!

kin432 · 31/07/2021 21:36

My spinal surgeons and pelvic surgeon don’t recommend any type of memory foam mattress and I have to say I agree.

That's interesting. I have arthritis and have always found a firm mattress reduces joint pain. But we're looking at a new bed and had been considering the new type of mattresses. Think I'll reconsider on that basis.

This maybe a useful buying guide.

As a starter, a medium tension mattress is recommended for people between 11 and 16 stones, firm for people above 16 stones. Will also depend upon whether you sleep on your side, front or back.

What I would strongly recommend is to try mattresses out before you buy. Ideally, You should lie on it for at least 10 minutes in the shop.

Sorry - forgot the link.

Tempur 100 million% Me and DH are both hefty (tall and heavy) and it looks like it did when I bought it 7 years ago. No sagging not a mark.

lazymum99 · 31/07/2021 22:24

Another for Tempur. Both mattress and pillows.
I do know someone who gave theirs back within the 60 day return time. They said it was too difficult to turn over.

Querty123456 · 31/07/2021 22:47

I’m going for a Hypnos one next time!

Ifonlyiweretaller · 01/08/2021 22:48

We recently bought a Hypnos wool one. I've never slept so well!
