2 year old ds was diagnosed with it this morning, dd has had temperature on and off since yesterday so i'm assuming she'll come down with it too. I've got a red patch on my tongue with little blisters on so think I may have it (i'm 34 weeks pregnant and seeing consultant tommorrow). Ds now has it in his mouth which is hurting him alot (have been giving him ice cream), on his feet, on his buttocks and now all over his legs. I knew it can come on their thighs and buttocks but didn't know it came on their knees etc too? Pleas etell me your experience of this illness especially if any of you got in it late pregnancy, any tips to make them more comfortable? TIA

I had in though not in pregnancy. I took parcetamol and the little boy I was looking after took calpol.

Thanks that's what dr said but it doesn't seem to be helping his mouth pain that much. should also say it is on his hands as well.

dd had it at 2 and was pretty miserable. I was pg but luckily didn't get it.

She would only drink milk, ate a little weetabix and I bought some difflam spray to make her mouth less sore. She was fairly rough for a couple of days.

My dd1 had it badly in her mouth last year. All Dr said was calpol. Wasn't much help! She didn't eat much for a few days. Luckily doesn't last too long.

Ds had it when he was about 2, i also caught it and it was pretty yuck for a few days. I had lots of very sore ulcers in my mouth and little spots on my feet and hands. Ds had a couple of blisters in his mouth and did have trouble eating for a few days. Lots of calpol/nurofen/cold drinks and food. Hope you all feel better soon! From what i remember is not a problem if you are pg.

my ds had it a few weeks back. he was pretty miserable for about a week, and just the usual calpol and soft foods advice im afraid! bear with it and be as nice as you can. we just carried on doing our usual stuff, but mostly he just wanted to cling onto me whining poor lad.
it passed quite quickly really though, and the thing to hold onto is the good news that it doesn't have any bad long lasting effects. its a mild disease.
good luck!

Not a problem at your stage pregnancy.

My ds2 has just had this and was pretty miserable.

As others have said calpol/ibuprofen for temp etc. Bonjela/difflam/cold drinks through a straw/ice lollies all helpful.

Usually fairly short lived and mild...but very contagious and the virus can be found in poo 6wks after illness so important to stress handwashing with lo's.

Thanks for your replies sorry I didn't come back last night to thank you but I couldn't get on to mn all night. He was miserable last night and kept waking up screaming in pain the only thing that seemed to help him was milk. DD also got another very high temp last night but there's still no signs of any blisters on her but all in all none of us slept very well. I've got an appointment with the consultant at Liverpool Womens anyway today so will ask about it then too.
