Worried about tonsil cancer

Hochocolio · 28/07/2021 08:53

DH has 1 tonsil that is enlarged and has a white patch. He has been told it doesn't look infected and has been given antibiotics which haven't worked anyway. Blood tests came back fine. Now an urgent ENT referral is happening. He is not worried at all and thinks it is just one of those odd quirks of his body. I'm really worried about cancer but can't talk to him about it. But is there anything else it could be?

Tonsilar stone?

Hochocolio · 28/07/2021 09:00

It has been there for a few months now. Would tonsil stone last that long?

He just told me that the GP said she was concerned which is worrying me more. We live in a remote part of Wales and will need to travel 60 miles for hospital appointments which is also adding on stress.

I don't wish to worry you, but with direct experience of head and neck cancers and how quickly they become problematic, please push to get this investigated as quickly as possible.

Wishing you the best xx

Thank you. I am doing my best to get him seen as soon as possible. He went to a nurse at first who said he need to see GP and soonest avaliable appointment was a week away. But the Nurse was so worried she asked the GP to see him the next day. He is acting like it is impossible to get cancer in your 30s.

Any news did everything go ok?

Hi I have an enlarged tonsil with a white patch and have been fobbed off for 8 months by my GP. They sent me to ENT who booked a tonsillectomy for 3 months time who said it would be sent and tested but he doesn’t see it as urgent even though he didn’t even look down my throat! and then it was cancelled by the NHS in a letter 2 weeks later as they said they will not fund it. I am worried now after reading this. I hope everything was ok for your son did they find out what it was?
