Help!!!!

I had braces around 15-20 years ago. Teeth remain straight but have had some movement. Keen to prevent this getting worse.

I grind my teeth at night used to wear a guard but have lost this.

I need to buy a retainer to stop teeth moving further and as a grind guard. I called the local dentist last week who has said due to covid and being closed etc they have a large waiting list and are prioritising people in pain. I will phone back tomorrow to confirm whether the waiting list is likely to be weeks or months but I didnt get the impression I'd be hitting the top of the list any time soon.

I see there are various websites offering to make retainers by sending you out putty to make a mould. One site I found called Bite will do top and bottom for £90. This seems like a good price. Has anyone used one of these online services and was it fine? I don't want to do any damage...

I honestly wouldn't like doing dental work on myself. But it looks as if lots of things are going that way. Online doctor's appointments. I'm just waiting for a do it yourself heart bypass kit to arrive from Amazon.

Do you have an orthodontist where you live? My brother needed new retainers and made an appointment at one of the orthodontists in our city and got new ones, he was £100 for the set and got them the same day. He was never a patient there his dental work was done at the dental hospital.

@popsicle438 Grin hopefully the diy gastric band is available soon too after my lockdown laziness - prime delivery would be appreciated!

Thanks for the replies though. I was hoping everyone was going to say go for it but I agree with the concerns. Il phone round a few practises on Monday, surely someone has a space!

@rosedog wow, I had thought it would be hundreds to go via an orthodontist. I have recently moved but I am sure there must be one close by. Will Google now - thank you!

Absolutely do Prime! I only waited a day for my DIY appendix removal kit. (Mind you, there was a scalpel missing so unfortunately it had to go back).
