Horrible red patches under armpit & boobs

I am typing this at 4am because I am in a LOT of pain from this.

It all began about a month ago when I began using a certain deodorant that was marketed as being extra sensitive, as I have incredibly sensitive skin. It ended up doing the opposite, causing me to have horrible red, painful red patches under my arms and under my boob. My sweat levels have also increased, meaning under-boob and underarms are always soaking. I'm not joking.

I've stopped using this deodorant, obviously. I haven't started using another one as I'm stuck indoors and not going anywhere anyway due to a broken knee. But I am in SO much pain from the recurring red patches and soaking-ness! It is so, so sore. I've tried all online recommendations including dabbing the affected areas with water and then drying them gently. I'm desperate for some answers and for this to bloody stop. Does anyone have any recommendations of things I could try - and once it's safe for me to put anything on my armpits, can anyone recommend an actual extra sensitive brand that I can try?

Thanks so much.

it's probably a yeast infection.

@fallfallfall oh shit, really? You can get them under armpits?! Envy (not envy)

Probably Yeast

You want to keep skin from touching skin. An old vest top with a couple of strategically slits cut in it can work wonderfully for the under breast problem. Small towels or gauze also work and are probably best to start, but I found the shirt the most comfortable for sleeping once things started getting a bit better.
Even if it’s not yeast, you have to keep the irritated skin dry or it won’t heal.

Thank you this is really helpful! I'm going to be honest with the whole broken knee situation I haven't really been wearing clothes because I've been in so much pain and in bed anyway so what's the point Grin but this sounds like it makes a lot of sense so I'll definitely try this. Thanks!

After your shower or bath lie on the bed and completely dry off with a hairdryer. Then use some canesten cream. A sore underboob is a horrible pain!

Canesten cream in magic for clearing this up. Ask the pharmacist for the one that is intended for the skin.

Use talc, it soaks up the sweat and use a hydrocortisone cream, I was prescribed daktacort by my GP. If it's yeast it will smell sort of beery but mine just smelt nasty.

I think its called intertrigo, a fungal infection, it might be yeast or another type of fungus, there are several that live on people!

itstoolateforthis · 25/07/2021 11:51

Thanks everyone! I have googled it and it is indeed intertrigo, or at least it looks like it. Small town pharmacies are closed on Sunday but will get some picked up first thing Monday.
