111, GP or wait it out?

I’ve been unwell since Sunday and not sure what to do with myself. I think it must be a virus. I’ve had two PCRs and both negative thankfully.
These are my symptoms: severe headache, fatigue, body aches, mild cough, sneezing. Did have diarrhoea a few days ago but that has gone away. I’m struggling to do anything other than sit in bed. I’m also worried as I’m only weeing 3-4 times a day and I’m struggling to drink enough without feeling sick.
What would you do? I know our NHS is really stretched so don’t want to put pressure on them, but don’t know what to do to feel better.

Do you have a fever? If so I’d ring 111 for advice as you may be brewing an infection somewhere.

Sounds like a virus or flu, keep drinking loads and rest as much as you can. Don't underestimate how wrecked a nasty virus can make you feel. Hope you feel better soon. Keep up with pain killers, I use day and night nurse for situations like this.

Have you had Covid in the past? Your symptoms sound very similar to mine and I had Covid in January and have recently been diagnosed with long Covid (or whatever the new name for it is now).

On the other hand you could just have a nasty viral illness. Try and drink - sparkling water might ease the nausea. You must get more fluids on board. Take paracetamol for the headache and rest up as much as you can.

You could phone 111 and see if they can offer any other advice, or phone your own GP on Monday for a telephone consultation. I was sent for blood tests to rule out anything else causing the symptoms - nothing was flagged up apart from anaemia.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I haven’t had a fever and have been taking regular paracetamol (all we have in). DCs are away with their dad this week but will ask a friend to drop off some pain killers.
Not had Covid and double vaccinated.

After less than a week of mild (albeit unpleasant) illness I wouldn't bother anyone. I'd up my fluid intake - even if it made me temporarily feel worse - and take lots of paracetamol and ibuprofen. I also always feel better outside so would go and sit/lie in the sun/shade

I know being ill is horrible but 5 days is really nothing

Check your pulse and temp. If normal I'd try to up your fluids as much as possible and wait it out till Monday. If you're still feeling rough I'd contact the GP.

Saying that op, if you're feeling very unwell and like you need to be seen, get yourself seen! You know your body best.

If temp or pulse is raised I'd 111 it just to be safe.

Take care and hope you feel better soon.

Thank you. Temp and pulse are ok I think. Time to get my big girl pants on by the sounds of it! Hope to be better by Monday.
